Bespoke Lighting in Action!

As well as Antique Lighting, we also design and fabricate custom lights for restaurants, bars and such like. They come in all shapes and sizes, from as small as 15 centimetres to a staggering 9 meters! We use a multitude of materials to form these lights including copper, brass, steel and wood.  Some have featured stained glass panels which curiously is what Julian started his business with over 35 years ago.  There are a few pictures below of some of the finished lights.

The design process can start with something as small as a rough sketch on an old envelope or sometimes with a faded picture of the interior of an ocean liner or department store. From there we will produce a scaled design or sometimes a prototype, keeping a close eye on proportions, stability and durability as they’ll need to stand the test of time as well as looking good.

Some of the larger lights, we make in sections with a view to putting them together on site as can be seen from some of the pictures below –  sometimes stairwells to upper floors can cause a problem!

It can be a real thrill to see the finished lights in situ and to be involved in the complete process from initial idea to the finished product.
